Adolescent Postural Complaints
Hello,
I have been practising Manipulative and soft tissue techniques and Sports Medicine
for eight years. My interests range from long-standing skeletal and muscular
pain - an example would be 'Frozen shoulder' complaints - to 'Repetitive Strains'
and sports related injuries. I have a special interest in developmental postural
complaints, particularly as I began seeing more young people developing complaints
normally associated with chronic long-standing dysfunction.
Training
I have a degree in Osteopathy from Oxford Brookes University.
Sports Injuries & Remedial/Neuromuscular massage (Deep Tissue Massage)
with the Northern Institute of Massage.
The aim of joint and soft tissue manipulation is to improve
the overall performance/ability of the individual. Most people at some time
in their lives develop either Muscular or soft tissue complaints. The Aim of
my practice is to address the root cause of the complaint and work to treat
not just the presenting symptoms but also the underlying causes, by dealing
with what in some cases are long standing postural and/or ergonomic poor habits.
Treatment
The treatment itself consists of the taking of a case history, followed by
a medical and clinical assessment. A short discussion about those findings
takes place prior to any treatment.
The use of deep tissue massage and mobilisation of restricted
joints is the fundamental part of the treatment. Practical exercises are advised
as are ways to avoid a return to the presenting complaint in the short and
long term.

Summary
I am currently involved with workshops held at the Wellbeing Clinic on Advanced

It is my wish to share the skills learnt over the years with those wishing to
gain more instruction and confidence in this area of practical work. Classes
remain small for that reason in order to offer specific one to one tuition.
